CONCEPT
The final poster involves a range of literal and lateral responses. The Kilburn White Horse is the most northerly turf-cut figure in Britain and one of the most famous landmarks in North Yorkshire. It was fitting to represent this in the poster, as the aim was to achieve a traditional poster that honours the legacy of the event whilst producing something relevant and contemporary with a visually satisfying aesthetic.
‘Sallie Gardner at a Gallop’ also known as ‘The Horse in Motion’ is a series of photographs consisting of a galloping horse, the result of a photographic experiment, by Eadweard Muybridge, sometimes sited as one of the earliest films and a precursor to the development of motion pictures.
