The Kilburn White Horsegrid reference SE516813, is a hill figure cut into the hillside in the North York Moors National Park near Kilburn in North Yorkshire, England. The figure is 318 feet (97 m) long by 220 ft (67 m) high and covers about 1.6 acres (6,475.0 m2) and said to be the largest and most northerly hill figure in England.

The final poster involves a range of literal and lateral responses. The Kilburn White Horse is the most northerly turf-cut figure in Britain and one of the most famous landmarks in North Yorkshire. It was fitting to represent this in the poster, as the aim was to achieve a traditional poster that honours the legacy of the event whilst producing something relevant and contemporary with a visually satisfying aesthetic.

‘Sallie Gardner at a Gallop’ also known as ‘The Horse in Motion’ is a series of photographs consisting of a galloping horse, the result of a photographic experiment, by Eadweard Muybridge, sometimes sited as one of the earliest films and a precursor to the development of motion pictures.
