EVALUATION STUDIO BRIEF 02

EVALUATION

“The value of considering ethics in any activity lies partly in being forced to question the fundamental nature of things. For designers, the eye may be the window of the soul – but one that is looking out rather than in.”
Lucienne Roberts Monitor

Overall Neo works to change this very concept, the message being how the eye can look both in and out.

It was difficult at times to evaluate whether aspects of the project were ethical, as it is such a loose term that is very subjective. A lot of considerations and evaluative feedback from peers was needed to proceed with any concerns.

The research undertaken for this brief allowed a deeper understanding of ethical practice in graphic design. It allowed me to understand the relationship between product and distribution. Whilst also motivating me to create more work with real purpose. This is not something new however, I believe the course does enforce these ideals.

I am satisfied with the final product, looking back changes could have been made to the final print of the zeen, a newsprint stock would have made more sense to the brief as a whole, in relation to pricing, and ideals Neo expresses.

As a brief I did enjoy it however, I wish more time was available, although a lot of time was spent on it, sometimes leaving a brief and having the luxury of coming back to in a few days later, can bring new fresh insight. The final week was more rushed than I would have liked. But I believe I have finished the brief with a degree of quality to my work.
