I find Japanese calligraphy some of the best typeface design around, the work speaks for itself, and seeing this brief is not really based on content, I was thinking in early ideas of this brief to make the entirety of the type japanese. I think as an aesthetic it is beautiful, they’re typeface designs, are a style I want to resonate in my book.
Especially the subtle use of red, as you see above it does not distract but more simply like the cherry on top of the design. Without this part, the final resolution feels empty.
