FINAL OUTCOME PENGUIN

The Final Outcome:

It achieves so much through the process of less is more. By adopting a minimal design, it has allowed space for the typography to breathe and exist as the main focal point. When there is less on a cover, the design elements that are there take on more meaning. They inform each other and give each other power. Every design decision becomes crucial because theres nothing to hide behind. The interesting thing that happens when you have something like big simple letter forms and secondary details that are completely different, is they inform those letters. They give them a little bit more of a reason for being plain, because you have something to compare the plainness to.

By avoiding the decorative aspect of book cover design, I have designed a book cover that has a conceptual idea that has a clear way of communicating itself visually. It is fresh and timeless in intent.

Spine Design:

The use of the vector design at the bottom of the spine is primarily to attract attention from a side view. It’s visual representation can convey many aspects of cosmology, from black holes, to the big bang or the universe itself. It acts as a visual representation of the content.
